  • Buffalo Bore Ammunition 44 Special 200 Grain Hard Cast Lead Wadcutter Anti-Personnel Box of 20

Buffalo Bore Anti-Personnel ammunition is loaded with the highest quality components to produce great accuracy and performance. This load was designed for use in any firearm chambered in 44 Special. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Anti-Personnel 44 Special Ammunition:

This load was developed to be used in ALL/ANY 44 SPL firearms including Charter Arms. Our other heavy 44 SPL loads exclude the Charter Arms as suitable for use with them. Due to popular request to make a potent defensive load in 44 SPL that can be fired in ALL 44 SPL or 44 MAG. firearms, we’ve developed this hard cast Wadcutter 200gr. load. It utilizes a low flash powder as nearly all defensive shooting in the US occur in low light when the criminal element is at work and it would place the shooter in a defenseless position if he or she were blinded by the flash of their own gun fire on the first shot.

As always Buffalo Bore uses real, over-the-counter firearms to determine our published, real-world velocities. We do this rather than follow the industry-wide, duplicitous practice of using extra long test barrels to generate exaggerated velocities that the ammo user will seldom, if ever see. With Buffalo Bore you can always know what velocity your ammunition is generating in the real world, versus a sterile, ambient controlled laboratory using long, highly efficient test barrels. See our real world velocities below:

    • 1.1036 fps – Ruger Super Black Hawk, 5.5 inch barrel
    • 2. 971 fps – S&W MT Gun, 4 inch barrel
    • 3. 948 fps – S&W Mod. 396, 3 inch barrel
    • 4. 920 fps – Charter Arms Bull Dog, 3 inch barrel
    • 5. 913 fps – S&W Mod. 296, 2 inch barrel

This load is designed to permanently and quickly disable threats. The big flat wadcutter nose crushes tissue as it passes through, unlike mushroomed bullets that are slightly rounded on the nose and tend to slip and slide through tissue. The crushing action of the flat nose keeps penetration straight and when penetration remains straight, it is generally very deep deep enough to obtain full penetration on the largest target from any angle. The hard cast construction will not deform at these velocities so the nose profile remains constant along with bullet path and terminal damage. Noted NYPD stake out officer and gun fighter Jim Cirillo used full wadcutters in his 38 SPL revolvers because they incapacitated with certainty. Expect about 24 inches of straight-line penetration with this load. This load utilizes a hard cast (not soft lead) properly lubed bullet and will not substantially lead foul your barrel, even if you fire hundreds of rounds.

  • Buffalo Bore Ammunition 44 Special 255 Grain Lead Keith-Type Semi-Wadcutter Gas Check

Buffalo Bore Heavy ammunition is loaded with the highest quality components to produce great accuracy and performance. From powder to bullet selection this load is made to be one of the best defense loads available. This ammunition is safe to fire in any firearm chambered in 44 Special or 44 Remington Magnum except for Charter Arms Bull Dog. Do Not Fire this ammunition in a Charter Arms Bull Dog.

Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Heavy 44 Special Ammunition:

Our purpose in developing this HEAVY 44 SPL load was to duplicate our renowned 38 SPL +P 158 gr. soft cast HP @ 1000 fps out of a 2 inch revolver, (Item 20A) but with a 190gr. 44 caliber bullet. This load was designed SPECIFICALLY for defensive use. You can see our below velocities fired from my real world stock revolvers. We use only real world firearms in developing our published velocities and feel it is dishonest to use extra long laboratory test barrels that give false high velocities that over-the-counter carry guns cannot duplicate. You need to know what your ammo is doing in the real world, not a lab.

    1. 6″ Ruger .44 Magnum Super Blackhawk

    • b. Item #14B – 1044 fps

      2. 3.25″ S&W Model 396

    • b. Item #14B – 984 fps

We developed this bullet to be soft (6 BHN) enough to mushroom at impact speeds around 750 fps, yet we wanted it hard enough (pure lead is 4 BHN) that it would not lead a normal revolver barrel. This bullet accomplishes both requirements. Depending on impact velocities, expect about 18 inches of penetration in tissues, which should give ample penetration at bad angles to disable.

This bullet was also designed with a special crimp groove and the case mouth is heavily crimped and this bullet will NOT jump crimp in the lightweight alloy revolvers, provided you rotate the unfired rounds and thus do not expose unfired rounds to the recoil of more than about 10 firings.

We are using a flash suppressed powder so you won’t become blinded by your own gunfire in the likely event you drop the hammer in a low-light defensive situation.

  • Buffalo Bore Ammunition 45 ACP +P 185 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE HEADSTAMP ON THIS BRASS: Due to limited supplies of brass, Buffalo Bore has begun loading +P and +P+ ammunition in brass that may not be indicated as such on the headstamp. Example: 9mm Luger +P+ ammunition may be designated as 9mm Luger +P or simply 9mm Luger on the headstamp.

Buffalo Bore loads their ammunition up to maximum SAAMI specifications, which delivers devastating performance on a wide range of game. Please note that this ammunition is not intended for older guns. It is made for modern firearms only, as some of the ammunition could damage older and weaker firearms. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on 45 ACP+P Ammunition:

45ACP+P ammo is externally/dimensionally identical to 45 ACP ammo and can be fired in any 45 acp firearm that is in normal operating condition. However, the greater pressures and power of the +P ammo will give you greater slide velocity and if you are going to shoot more than a box or two of +P ammo, you should consider replacing your recoil spring with a Wolf Spring that gives roughly 4 to 6 lbs more spring weight than factory stock springs. A shock buffer might also be a good addition although it is not too necessary if you use the stronger spring.

As always, with Buffalo Bore Ammunition, we use real world firearms to give real world data and results. Laboratory test barrels tell you little about what kind of speed you can expect from your stock firearm.

All our 45 ACP+P loads utilize flash suppressed powders so that you will not be blinded by your own gunfire should you need to fire in the dark when the criminal element is at work.

This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Buffalo Bore 45 Auto Rim +P Ammunition:

You’ve been asking for a couple +P 45 AUTO RIM loads for a long time, so by popular demand, here they are. Both loads are using high quality Starline brass. We’ve also incorporated a flash suppressed powder so you can shoot in the dark without blinding yourself and this is important because over 95% of all civilian shootings in the USA occur in low light when the criminal element is at work. Both of these loads are the equivalent of +P+ 45 ACP ammo or as it is also known, 45 Super. These are very stout loads, but will not harm modern 45 ACP revolvers, nor will these loads harm any post war 45 ACP revolvers. Feel free to safely shoot these loads in any post war 45 ACP revolver that is in normal good operating condition.

Check out the below velocities fired from personal real world revolvers, NOT test barrels. You’ll notice that the new S&W 4 inch Mt. Gun gives speeds almost as fast as the older S&W revolvers with 5.5 and 6.5 inch barrels. This is NOT a typo. It simply shows that the new S&W revolvers are made to much tighter tolerances than the older S&W revolvers and therefore give higher velocities per inch of barrel.

Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Heavy 45 Auto Rim Ammunition:

You’ve been asking for a couple heavy 45 AUTO RIM standard pressure loads, so by popular demand, here they are. Both of these loads utilize high quality Starline brass. We’ve also incorporated flash suppressed powder so you can shoot in the dark without blinding yourself and this is important because over 95% of all civilian shootings in the USA occur in low light when the criminal element is at work. Both of these loads are the ballistic equivalent of +P 45 ACP loads, yet they operate at standard 45 ACP pressures. These loads are safe to use in ANY 45 ACP revolver that is in normal operating condition, including ANY model 1917 Colt or S&W revolver.

Check out the below velocities fired from personal real world revolvers, NOT test barrels. Please note that this ammunition is safe to use in older prewar revolvers in proper working condition. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

Owner of Buffalo Bore Tim Sundles on Heavy 45 Auto Rim Ammunition:

This 225gr. full profile wad cutter, 45 auto rim, is the most deadly standard pressure load ever devised for the 45 auto rim cartridge. It utilizes the same bullet as our 45 colt ANTI-PERSONNEL ammunition (Item 3I) and because of popular request to have that bullet loaded into 45 auto rim ammo, here it is.

This bullet will penetrate around 28 inches and makes a permanent crush cavity because of its wad cutter profile. This load is the power/pressure level equivalent of 45 acp+P ammo and is safe to use in all modern 45 acp revolvers, including any/all (even pre war) 1917 model revolvers in normal operating condition.

Flash suppressed powders are used in this ammo so the shooter will not be blinded by his own gunfire and gives a tactical advantage.

The 225gr. wad cutter bullet is hard cast (not lead) and is properly lubed and will not substantially lead foul your barrel even after extensive shooting sessions, nor will the bullet fragment, smear or mushroom on impact with flesh and bone, thus insuring very straight and deep penetration with a consistent crush cavity throughout its path.

FOR USE ONLY IN GUNS CONSTRUCTED TO WITHSTAND +P 45 COLT AMMUNITION

As usual we test fire our published velocities from real world over-the-counter firearms, so the customer will have an idea what this ammunition is doing in the real world, where it matters and not in a laboratory. We feel that publishing velocities fired from very long laboratory test barrels, gives false high velocity readings and is misleading to the customer. See our velocities below:

    • 1533 fps – Freedom Arms Mod. 97 5 1/4 inch barrel
    • 1505 fps – Ruger pre 2006 large frame Vaquero 5 1/2 inch barrel
    • 1855 fps – Marlin Mod. 1894 Cowboy 20 inch barrel

This, long-for-weight, Barnes X style bullet will penetrate deeply for such a light weight bullet and therefore this load is suitable for big game from whitetail deer through elk.

Barnes placed the crimp groove in a location that affords a short cartridge OAL; therefore the loaded cartridge will fit into the short cylinder of the FA mod. 97. The OAL for this cartridge is 1.572 inch. Which means you can chamber it in revolvers that are too weak to fire +P loads. So, use this ammo ONLY in ALL LARGE FRAME RUGERS, (i.e. Black Hawks, all Red Hawk iterations chambered in 454 Casull and 45 Colt, and pre 2006 Vaqueros) Colt Anaconda, all FA revolvers chambered in 454 Casull and 45 Colt and Dan Wesson revolvers, Winchester and Marlin mod. 1894, all falling block actions made of modern steel, TC Encore and the Handi Rifle.
